Experimental workshop No. 15 was put into operation, based on which tests and adjustment of new equipment were carried out, technological processes were checked, specialists were trained. In September of the same year, the first ton of titanium tetrachloride, a product of the synthesis of titanium slag and chlorine, was obtained.

The transition to reduction and distillation apparatuses with increased production cycle was carried out, which tripled productivity and 3.2 times reduced chlorine emissions. Large environmental facilities were put into operation - recycling water supply stations, slag accumulator, installations for cleaning ventilation gases from dust and chemical pollution.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved the "Development Program of Titanium Industry of Kazakhstan for 1992 - 1997". Its consistent implementation allowed not only to preserve the production of titanium sponge in the country but also to enter the world market, ensuring 100% export of products to industrialized countries: the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea and India.

The launch of an ore-thermal complex for the production of titanium slag (workshop No. 12) took place. For the first time in the history of Kazakhstan, titanium slag was obtained, which contributed to a decrease in the share of imported titanium-containing raw materials.
